hello.

Welcome to Park Life. We are an independent retail store and art gallery based in San Francisco.  Our goal is simple; to showcase art and design that we find relevant.

Started in 2006 by Jamie Alexander and Derek Song, Park Life is a retail store and separate art gallery.  Located in the Inner Richmond in a turn-of-the-century commercial space formerly housing the famous Busvan furniture store, Park Life store and gallery spans over 1400 sq.ft. of floor space.

The retail space features art and design products culled together from all over the world.  We feature hard to find, limited edition, and unique items that include; books (art, type, design, photography, etc.), modern design objects, prints, paper goods, t-shirts, homewares, jewelry, artist multiples, original art and more.

We also specialize in limited edition artist collaborations. We have worked with dozens of artist over the last 6 years to produce products ranging from books, zines and prints to tees, skate decks, and objects. some of the artists that we have collaborated with include; David Shrigley, Clare Rojas, Tucker Nichols, Jason Polan, Ian Johnson, Sadie Barnette, Chris Ballantyne, Chris Lux, Andrew Schoultz, Evah Fan, Brendan Monroe, Thomas Campbell, Anthony Discenza, Mattew Palladino, Paul Wackers, Tauba Auerbach and many others. Check our store and blog for updates.

Park Life Gallery's ambition is to show the most engaging contemporary art being created today. Park Life Gallery holds 10 exhibits each year. Join our email list to get announcements and opening reception information. Please contact Gallery Director Jamie Alexander for more information.

We also publish books and catalogs under the imprint Paper Museum Press. Titles to date include monographs by artists Andrew Schoultz, Ian Johnson, Shaun Odell and Brendan Monroe. Future projects include books from Chris Ballantyne, Paul Wackers. These titles are distributed by Gingko Press. For more information please visit the Paper Museum Press site.

Jamie Alexander studied design and art history, has been a patron of Bay Area arts for over 15 years and is a board member of The Headlands Center for the Arts.

Derek Song is a history buff and is good at trivia. He wishes he could have lunch with Tibor Kalman.
