Since graduating from the Art Center in Pasdadena, Brendan Monroe has been painting, drawing, and sculpthing a mythical world that is inhabited by blobbish, oozy, paint-chip, trash-laden life-forms interspersed with human figures. Loosely based on the notion that studying smaller enviroments can help us understand the greater world around us.
Although he has self-published a wonderful run of miniature artist-books, this is the first inclusive monograph of Monroe's work including over 70 paintings, 15 sculptures, and installation shots.
This volume represents the artist's progression as well as his most current body of work and it includes an interview with the artist conducted by Dr. Simon Park. Shana Nys Dambrot created an index of terms related to viewing and experiencing Brendan Monroe's work.
